Serbia defeats Jamaica 2-1

Michael Seaton scored a second half goal to pull Jamaica within one goal of tying their friendly international against Serbia in New Jersey on Monday, but it was not enough to overcome the Serbians who won 2-1.

Serbia took a 2-0 first half lead after pressing Jamaica down the middle with skillful dribbles and also attacking from the flanks, which saw Jamaica succumbing to the pressure and conceding the two early goals.

But brilliant goalkeeping by Andre Blake in his debut match for Jamaica in the second half, kept the Reggae Boyz in the match. Blake also dived to his right to save a late penalty awarded to Serbia. The team applied strong pressure on Serbia in the second half which was a much better display, but couldn't find the equaliser.

The Reggae Boyz now travel to Switzerland for another friendly on Friday.

Switzerland will play in Group E at the World Cup finals against Ecuador, France and Honduras. Interestingly, with Honduras in the Group, France will also play Jamaica on June 8 in Lille.

Both matches will be televised LIVE on Television Jamaica, TVJ.

Match time on Friday, May 30, is 1:30p.m Jamaica time.
