Stunning 100m performances highlight Day 1 of JAAA Junior and Senior Champs

Stunning performances in the senior 100m heats stole the show on Thursday’s opening day of the JAAA National Junior and Senior Championships at the National Stadium. 

Kishane Thompson of MVP Track Club, stunned the National Stadium when he produced a huge lifetime best of 9.91 seconds to progress as the fastest qualifier in the men's section, bettering his previous personal best of 10.21 seconds.

Kadrian Goldson 9.94 seconds and Oblique Seville 10 seconds flat, are also safely into the semi-finals. Former world champion Yohan Blake was disqualified for false starting in his heat.

On the women's side World Championship silver medallist Shericka Jackson coasted home in 10.99 seconds to advance to the women’s semi-finals as the fastest qualifier.

Natasha Morrison was also in excellent form, clocking 11 seconds flat to take her heat, while reigning Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah also made progress with an 11.12 second clocking to land her heat.

The action on Friday’s second day will be highlighted by the 100m and 400m hurdles finals for all categories.
