The Jamaica Tallawahs are out of contention to qualify for the playoffs of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) for 2019 after suffering their seventh defeat of the season, going down to the St Lucia Zouks at the Darren Sammy Cricket Ground on Friday. Batting first, the Jamaican franchise were restricted to 165-7 with Dwayne Smith top-scoring with 58. Chris Gayle also chipped in with 29.
Former Tallawahs bowler Kesrick Williams took 3-24 while Jamaican Krishmar Santokie bagged 2-31.
In reply, the Zouks who got to their target of 169-6 with 5 balls to spare were led to victory by Rahkeem Cornwall who top-scored with 51. With the win, the Zouks moved up to 7 points while the Tallawahs who have one game left, stayed at the bottom of the table on four.
This is the first time in the history of the CPL that the Tallawahs are missing out on a playoff berth. The Tallawahs will play their last group stage game of the competition next Thursday against the Guyana Amazon Warriors.
