Thompson-Herah and Forte highlight final Velocity Fest meet

Double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah and MVP Track Club teammate Julian Forte were among the winners in the final Velocity Fest track meet over the weekend at the National Stadium. Thompson-Herah cruised to 22.79 seconds for victory in the women's 200 metres.

National 400 metres record holder Rusheen McDonald of MVP, took the men's equivalent in 21.48.

Meanwhile, Forte and 2011 world champion Yohan Blake both clocked 10.20 seconds in the men's 100 metres, but Forte was credited with the win.

In the field, reigning world champion Tajay Gayle took the men's long jump with 8.04 metres. World Championship silver medallist Shanieka Ricketts took the women's triple jump with a mark of 14.37 metres, while World Championship silver medallist Fedrick Dacres took the men's discus throw in 61.44 metres. 

The Velocity Fest series began in June and saw seven stagings at the National Stadium and the Ashenheim Stadium at Jamaica College.
