Olympic silver medalist Kishane Thompson was one of four Jamaican podium finishers at the Shanghai Diamond League meet on Saturday, the second stop on the 2025 series calendar.
Thompson was given second in the men's 100m in a time of 9.99 seconds, as he was out-dipped by South African Akani Simbine who won in 9.98 seconds. Rohan Watson was 6th in a seasons best 10.18 seconds.
World champion Danielle Williams was also second in the women's 100m hurdles in a time of 12.55 seconds.
American Grace Stark won in a meet record 12.42 seconds.
Also on the track, Olympic bronze medalist Rasheed Broadbell took third in a blistering men's 110m hurdles event.
Broadbell in his second sprint hurdles race of the season, produced 13.24 seconds to finish behind rising American star Cordell Tinch who won in a world leading, meet record and personal best of 12.87 seconds. Hansel Parchment was 6th in a season’s best 13.32 seconds, while Orlando Bennett was 8th in 13.49 seconds.
Natoya Goule-Toppin narrowly missed out on third spot in the women's 800m, as she crossed the line in 1min 58.43 seconds just behind Halimah Nakaayi of Uganda 1 minute, 58.39. The time is also a national record for Uganda.
Jamaica's other second place finisher came in the field, as Jordan Scott who won the triple jump event at the Xiamen stop last week ended second in the event with a mark of 17 metres.
In the women's shot put, Danniel Thomas-Dodd ended 9th with 18.21 metres, her only legal throw on the day.
