Tivoli "A" & Waulgrovians "A" eyeing the JNA/JNBS Open Netball League title

Tivoli "A" and Waulgrovians "A" remain strong contenders for championship honours, following victories in Saturday's round of the Jamaica Netball Association (JNA)/Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) Open Netball League at the Leila Robinson Courts.

Tivoli "A" made it two wins from two matches with an impressive win over the UWI Pelicans with an 11 goal win, 31 – 20.

The West Kingston-based girls had to pull out all the stops to take a 15 – 12 halftime lead and despite the presence of national skipper Nadine Bryan, the Pelicans could not prevent Tivoli from dominating the second period 16 – 8.

Waulgrovians, who last won the open league title in 2009, registered their first win of the campaign with a 36 – 25 victory over Mico "A".

Led by Simone Forbes, who is back from a three month suspension, and new sensation Jhanielle Fowler, Wwaulgrovians, who were beaten 31 – 30 by Windalco, carved out an easy 11 point victory.

Among the other winners were Arnett Gardens "A", Rivoli "A", Hagley Park "B", Spanish Town Strikers, Raven "A", Speg "A", Jetsetters "A" and Police "A", who registered the evening's biggest win 57 – 5 over Progressive Strikers.
