U19 women's lacrosse team departs for World Cup

Jamaica's Under-19 women's lacrosse team departed the island on Thursday for the World Cup in Ontario, Canada.

The team suffered financial constraints recently and needed close to JA $5 million to secure the tickets to travel. President of the Jamaica Lacrosse Association Calbert Hutchinson is relieved to have gotten  support from the public and other entities.

Jamaica has been drawn in Pool "C" of the World Cup and will face Germany, South Korea, China and Kenya. The Lacrosse World Cup is set to run from August 1-10. Prior to the tournament, Jamaica will play the Republic of Ireland in a practice game on July 29.
