Medium pacer Krishmar Santokie, 25, has been singled out as a future West Indies cricketer by former world record holder Courtney Walsh.
After watching Santokie take 10 wickets at an average of 10 runs, in five matches, during the recent regional twenty/20 tournament, Walsh believes the medium pacer could soon breakthrough to the West Indies team.
“Everybody is going to say height is against him but his control is immaculate, he’s got some pace, he’s got enough to keep you worried, he swings the ball around nicely.
“He just needs to work on his fitness, stamina and strength so he can get stronger and probably bowl a lot quicker if needs be. Once he’s swinging the ball and has good control, he has a lot in his favour as we don’t have many left armers around like that,” Walsh said.
Santokie was among four players, who Dr. Julian Hunte, Chief Executive Officer of the West Indies Cricket Board, was impressed with coming out of the competition.
Santokie was the joint second best bowler in the twenty/20 tournament, behind Guyana’s Lennox Cush.
