Jamaicans have been complaining about high food prices in recent months, some of which were the result of the impact of weather systems on agriculture.
Despite that challenges, however, consumer confidence has increased by 3.9 per cent when compared to the third quarter of 2024
Don Anderson, Chairman of Market Research Services, presented the data from the latest survey on Tuesday.
He said the factors driving the increase in consumer confidence are positive changes in attitudes towards current business conditions and the job market.
He added that consumers are being cautious and conservative when making major purchasing decision.
Meanwhile more Jamaicans (26%) are willing to purchase a motorcar compared to the third quarter of 2024, while 42% are likely to purchase a vacation, down from 45.3% in the third quarter.
Thirty-three per cent of Jamaicans believe the business conditions have improved, up from the 28 per cent in the third quarter of 2024.
Thirty-three-point-six per cent of respondents also said the job situation is better, compared to 27.3% in the third quarter.
