C-TOC joins abduction investigation

 

The Counter-Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) has joined the investigation of the abduction of  three women by persons travelling in a taxi in the Corporate Area on Monday.

 

The police are urging female commuters to be extremely vigilant when boarding public passenger vehicles.

 

Head of  the Jamaica Constabulary Force's Corporate Communications Unit, Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay, says investigators were informed by the women that the vehicle, a white Toyota Probox, had red plates. 

 

The women, who were abducted in three communities, have been released.

 

SSP Lindsay  the told Radio Jamaica News that first abduction took place in Bull Bay, while the other two happened "in the Papine area".

 

All three abductions took place using the same taxi-cab, she said, adding that the women were forced, at gunpoint, to hand over their debit cards and credit cards and reveal the personal information number for these cards, which were then used to withdraw funds from the victims' bank accounts.

 

Missing person alerts were issued after relatives of  the three women contacted the police.

 

Two of  the women were blindfolded and left in the vicinity of  the Kingston Public Hospital Tuesday morning while the third was left "on the street".
