Expansion plans for Mandeville Regional Hospital

The management of Mandeville Regional Hospital in Manchester has secured an additional four acres of land, as part of its strategic plan to further develop and expand the institution’s facilities and services.

According to Alwyn Miller, CEO of the hospital, consideration is being given to relocating the Outpatient department, which is earmarked for expansion.

Mr. Miller told RJR News that the department, which provides pharmaceutical and laboratory services, has outgrown the area it currently occupies.

He is forecasting that the entire Southern Region will benefit from having a regional laboratory at the hospital.

It is expected that funds will be provided in the 2015/16 budget, to secure the necessary technical services to commence preliminary work on the project.

The property was acquired from the previous owner, the Ministry of Transport, Works & Housing.
