Extradition hearing to get underway for Jamaican wanted for murder in the US

By Kimone Witter

An extradition hearing is to get underway in the Corporate Area Parish Court Thursday for a Jamaican who is wanted in the United States for murder.

Kenroy Hardie, otherwise called 'Sharkie', a 40-year-old taxi operator of Palmerstan Close in Portsmouth, St. Catherine, was arrested Wednesday morning at his home on an extradition warrant.

The police say Hardie returned to Jamaica in March 2006 after serving one year in prison for a firearm related violation.

In July last year, the United States District Court of New York issued an arrest warrant for Hardie in relation to a murder committed on March 27, 2002.
