Police trying to restore calm to Norwood, St. James following spate of shootings

The police are trying to restore calm in sections of Norwood, St. James where there has been a spate of shootings since last week.

The outbreak of violence is the result of gang warfare.

A curfew in place since Wednesday is set to end at 6 o'clock Friday evening.

The boundaries of the curfew are north along an imaginary line from East Atlantic Drive to Rough Road; east along an imaginary line from Rough Road to Mahogany and Pimento Drive; south along an imaginary line from the eastern boundary of Hart Boulevard; and west along an imaginary line from Hart Boulevard to East Atlantic Drive.

The police say there was a double murder in the community on Saturday and a drive-by shooting on Sunday, which left one person dead and two injured.

Operations are ongoing to find the individuals involved in the violence.

The police say gangs are fighting over turf and proceeds from the lottery scam.
