Transport Authority MD, Willard Hylton, withdraws resignation

Willard Hylton, acting managing director of the Transport Authority

Willard Hylton, the acting managing director of the Transport Authority, has withdrawn his resignation.

This is pending the outcome of deliberations by a five-member committee set up to iron out the issues with led to his decision to leave the post.

Mr. Hylton submitted his resignation last week, citing poor leadership coming from the office of the General Manager for Operations.

This led to three days of protest by staff of the Transport Authority as well as some taxi associations.

But speaking with Radio Jamaica News on Tuesday, Mr. Hylton disclosed that he has tentatively withdrawn his resignation at the request of the Transport Authority board.

He said the five-member committee set up by the board will examine and seek to address his concerns.

But he warned ominously that "failure of the board to deal with these issues will leave me with no choice but to reconsider my position."

Mr. Hylton was slated to demit office on Thursday.
