Trainers refute JRC chairman's claim that Covid-19 protocols are not being followed

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Denise Walters

Trainers at Caymanas Park are hitting back at recent statements by chairman of the Jamaica Racing Commission (JRC) Clovis Metcalfe.

Metcalfe who had concerns about protocols not being followed, declared that the possibility exists that racing could be run behind closed doors, but said he would seek dialogue with the promoting company, Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL).

However, four trainers, including the president of the United Racehorse Trainers Association (URTA), Ryan Darby and two time champion trainer Anthony Nunes are adamant that racing held behind closed doors again, would cripple the industry.
