Doja Cat nominated for six BET awards

Pop singer Doja Cat has received six BET award nominations, the most for any artiste this year.

Doja has been nominated in the categories Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Album of the Year for Planet Her and the BET Her Award for the single Woman.

She also earned the video of the year and best collaboration nods for Kiss Me More featuring SZA.

Doja Cat's genre bending appeal is evident as she is the only artiste to be nominated in both R&B/pop and hip hop categories.

Ari Lennox and rapper Drake are runners-up with four nods each, while Silk Sonic, Chlöe, Future, H.E.R., Jazmine Sullivan, Ye, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Baby, Mary J. Blige and Tems have each received three nominations.

Oscar winning picture King Richard will challenge Oscar winning documentary feature Summer of Soul, as well as Candyman, Respect, Space Jam: A New Legacy and The Harder They Fall for best movie.

Best actor will be chosen from Will Smith, Denzel Washington and Forest Whitaker, while Zendaya is nominated for best actress.

The 2022 BET Awards to be hosted by Taraji P. Henson, will air on Sunday, June 26, on BET, live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
