Kevin Hart's former friend charged with attempting to extort him

A former friend of Kevin Hart has been charged with attempting to extort the comedian by allegedly using a video of the actor that sparked a cheating scandal.

The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office announced on Wedesday that Jonathan Todd Jackson, who is also known as Action Jackson, was arrested and charged with one count each of felony attempted extortion and extortion by threatening letter.

Jackson allegedly had a videotape of the actor with a woman in Las Vegas and is accused of trying to sell the recording to numerous celebrity news websites.

Jackson faces a possible four-year jail sentence if convicted.

Hart tweeted in apparent reference to the situation that he was mind blown, hurt, at a loss for words and simply in complete disbelief.

The two have reportedly been friends for more than 15 years.
