Jamaica spent more to import consumer goods in 2023

Jamaica spent 4.7 per cent more on the importation of 'Consumer Goods'.
 
The Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN), says for the calendar year 2023, goods imported in this category were valued at US$1.9 billion.
 
The group 'Capital Goods', which excludes 'Motor Cars', was valued at $769.3 million - an increase of 16.5 per cent compared to the same period in 2022.
 
Meanwhile, STATIN says the 'Transport Equipment' imports totalled US$589.5 million.
 
That's 26.3 per cent above the figure in 2022.
