The Agriculture Ministry says it is looking to remove duties charged on some agricultural items in a bid to reduce the effects of rising costs for inputs due to the Ukraine-Russia crisis.
The ministry says it is preparing a list of items to be submitted to the Ministry of Finance for consideration.
Meanwhile, the Agriculture Ministry says with the continued increase in animal feed and fertiliser prices, discussions have started with key stakeholders in the sector to craft a plan to reduce the impact on farmers.
It says some companies are exploring alternative sources of potassium, one element of fertilisers manufactured in Jamaica.
Channels in other countries such as Africa are being explored.
