Caribbean Lifestyle TV to honour successful Caribbean nationals

New York based Caribbean Lifestyle TV (CLM TV) has announced that Jamaican international basketball captain Simone Edwards, Herman Hall, President of Herman Hall Communications & publisher of 'EVERYBODY’S Magazine' and Team Jamaica Bickle will be honored at the station's 4th anniversary gala and awards celebration on February 28 in Manhattan.

Saxophone great Cedric 'IM' Brooks was previously announced as  a honoree.

Simone Edwards, a retired Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) basketball player, who played for the Seattle Storm, is a player/coach of the Jamaica senior women basketball team, and has captained the squad since 2006.

Under her four year leadership, the squad’s accomplishments include winning the gold medal in the 2006 Caribbean Basketball Championship.

Best Center Award – 2010 Centro Basket

She was given the 2007 FIBA (International Basketball Federation) Americas Award for the most points scored in the tournament.

She was the first female from an English speaking Caribbean country ever to have won such an award.

During the summer of 2010, she also led the squad to a second place finish at the Centrobasket tournament that earned the team a place in the 2011 FIBA Americas Championship which is a qualifier for 2012 Summer World Olympic.

Simone was selected to the 1st Team – Centro Basket and earned the Best Center Award – 2010 Centro Basket.

Off the court, Simone Edwards is the founder of the Simone4Children Foundation, a non-profit organization created in 2000 to address the needs of under served children in Jamaica and Seattle.

Bringing NY TV stations to carnival  

Herman Hall, a former radio broadcaster, was one of the founders of the WLIB Radio Caribbean format in the 1970s-1980s together with pioneers like Ken Williams.

He served WLIB as a commentator and consultant for many years and has produced and promoted some of the top calypso/soca shows in the tri-state area.

As a promoter, Hall has presented shows at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center, Radio City Music Hall, the then Felt Forum Theater at Madison Square Garden, Town Hall, Howard University, Strand Theater and John Hancock Theater in Boston and many more.

He has promoted Oliver Samuels plays from Boston to Washington, D.C for 20 consecutive years.

Hall joined the late Carlos Lezama in 1972 in developing carnival in Brooklyn and served on the Board of WIADCA.

He is credited with bringing all the major TV stations in NYC to the carnival.

Team JA Bickle to be honoured for supporting Caribbean athletes

New York based Team Jamaica Bickle (TJB), is a non-profit organisation that was established by founder Irwine Clare in 1995 primarily to assist the athletes and officials from Jamaica and the Caribbean.

Established with the help and assistance of corporate sponsorships, community businesses and organizations, coupled with a strong volunteer group, TJB provides meals, transportation and amenities for the duration of the athletes’ and officials’ stay at the annual Penn Relays in Carnival in Philadelphia.

The organisation’s activities were born out of a chronic need for support to the athletes during their stay in the United States.
