Some workers have stayed off the job at the National Public Health Laboratory and National Blood Transfusion Services.
The employees have cited what they characterise as disrespect meted out to them by a senior staff member.
Radio Jamaica News was told that are that the director in question berated a subordinate on the weekend, and that even as the intervention of the Ministry of Health & Wellness was being sought in that matter, the same director was involved in a verbal spat with another member of staff.
St Patrice Ennis, General Secretary of the Union of Technical Administrative & Supervisory Personnel confirmed that the two incidents have angered the staff members who now say they have had enough.
The Ministry says it is collaborating with private facilities and individuals, public hospitals with laboratory services, and the Jamaica Defence Force to carry out the functions in the meantime.
It says it has not been advised of any industrial action by the staff, but based on advice from the management, it is mobilizing resources to carry out emergency services.
