Cayman Islands: Chief Justice announces introduction of district courts

Cayman Islands' Chief Justice Margaret Ramsay-Hale announced yesterday that district courts will be introduced across the country later this year. 

She made the announcement during the annual Grand Court opening with political leaders and members of the legal fraternity.

Chief Justice Ramsay-Hale says the development is not entirely new and is necessary for large jurisdictions.

She noted that the implementation will be convenient for defendants who have different matters across various courts.
