Fire along Spanish Town Road delays traffic

A fire broke out early Thursday morning at a business establishment that stores used tyres along Spanish Town Road.
 
The tyres caught fire about 2 o'clock at Cool Energy Company located at 11 Spanish Town Road. 
 
Firefighters have brought the blaze under control and are carrying out cooling down operations.
 
Cables belonging to the Jamaica Public Service Company and telecommunications companies have been damaged by the fire.
 
The cause of the blaze has not been ascertained.
 
The incident resulted in a massive pileup of traffic on Mandela Highway.
 
The east bound lanes between Six Miles and Weymouth Drive along Spanish Town Road had to be closed due to the fire. 
 
Those lanes have since been reopened.
