Guyana: GTU presents new proposal to the gov't aimed at ending the months-old strike

The Guyana Teachers Union has presented several new proposals to the government aimed at ending the months-old strike by teachers, but the last round of discussions ended in a deadlock yesterday.
Among the new proposals put forward by the GTU is for a multi-agreement to be completed within 30 days.
The meeting ended with the representatives from the Ministry of Education promising to consider the proposal that would now span the years 2022 to 2025, a timeframe the union had previously floated as a compromise.
