IDT orders air traffic controllers not to take industrial action

The Industrial Disputes Tribunal (IDT) has issued an order for air traffic controllers to refrain from taking industrial action.

The dispute between the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority and the Jamaica Traffic Controllers Association was referred to the tribunal by the Ministry of Labour.

The air traffic controllers have been restive for several months over wage negotiations.

They signalled last month that they were planning to take action following a request from the Finance Ministry to remove some items from their wage claim.

But the Tribunal says such action should not take place.
