Seven students of Munro College and Hampton School who were injured in Monday afternoon's bus crash in Malvern, St. Elizabeth, have been released from hospital.
They were among 50 students from the two schools travelling in the bus when the mishap occurred, shortly after 4pm, in the vicinity of Bethlehem Moravian College.
Reports are that the driver lost control of the bus which hit an embankment. The vehicle then overturned three times.
Alicia Bromfield, vice principal of Munro College, told RJR News that some of the students sustained neck injuries.
“All the students were taken to medical facilities in Santa Cruz because by the time we got on the scene they were all visibly shaken. Some were already transported to the medical facilities by the Malvern police and some members of the community health centre who were quick on the scene. Having seen the doctors in Santa Cruz, they sent on seven students to the Black River Hospital,” said Ms. Bromirfield.
Munro, a boys' school and Hampton, its counterpart for girls, are both more than 150 years old and are operated by the Munro and Dickenson Trust.
