The
Jamaica Constabulary Force Tuesday launched its annual torch run which will
benefit the island's special Olympians.
The torch run is a series of relays run by police men and women over a period of two weeks.
This year's run will sponsor the team's trip to the 2011 Special Olympics which will be held in Greece.
The JCF is trying to raise $2 million for the members of the team.
In his address at the launch, Assistant Commissioner of Police John McLean urged members of the public to donate funds, despite the financial crunch currently gripping the country.
The torch run will begin at Half-Way-Tree square on May 14 and pass through all 14 parishes before ending at the Elletson Road Sports complex in Kingston on May 30.
