Lawyer seeks transfer of facility for accused wife killer assaulted in custody

 
A 31-year-old man who is charged with the murder of his American wife, Melissa Samnath, has been remanded in custody. 
 
Dane Watson appeared in the St. James Parish Court on Thursday, where his attorney alleged that he had been assaulted while in custody and requested his transfer to another facility. 
 
Watson is accused of fatally injuring his wife during a domestic dispute in April. 
 
She was taken to Cornwall Regional Hospital and later pronounced dead. 
 
Watson is to return to court on October 20 for a committal hearing.
