The Ministry of Labour and Social Security says further consideration is being given to including more disabled workers in the seasonal farm work programme.
Two women and two men with disabilities have so far been able to travel to Canada to work.
Portfolio minister Pearnel Charles Jr. says requests are being made for more people with disabilities to be added to the 2025 cycle.
"The four candidates that we have, that are in the category of persons with disabilities, have an excellent drive and attitude. And because of their approach to their work, we see where employees are asking for persons... who have that kind of dedication, that kind of attitude, whether they are persons with disabilities or not. They want that kind of drive, because that is really what allows them to be team players, allows them to be leaders, and also to push through whatever obstacles or challenges they confront," he disclosed.
Mr. Charles said the ministry has been working to create more opportunities for Jamaicans to be able to benefit from the programme.
"We have for the first time ever actually assigned for a special programme, a permanent secretary to focus on high level advocacy. And we've seen already the strengthening of our relations between our partners, and we've seen where we are having positive opening up opportunities for Jamaica," he said.
