Major General Antony Anderson
Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson says public perception of the Jamaica Constabulary Force is changing for the better.
General Anderson says this is supported by the work of the officers in successfully conducting investigations and engaging with the public.
"We have a public that is starting to give us the benefit of the doubt. I think that's important. So there's a reduction in cynicism and scepticism and more about the benefit of the doubt. Now when you start to get the benefit of the doubt from your public, it means you are starting to win them over," he reasoned.
Despite his sentiment, a recent Don Anderson poll indicated that the majority of Jamaicans are of the view that the relationship between the police and civilians has worsened over the last ten years.
Forty-four per cent of respondents said the relationship has worsened, 30 per cent said the relationship has got much worse while 14 per cent believe it has only got a little worse.
