Two accidents on Nelson Mandela Highway

Two separate motor vehicle accidents which occurred along the Nelson Mandela Highway earlier Thursday resulted in the death of one person and the admission of four others to hospital.

Dead is a man known only as ‘Archibald' from Central Village in St. Catherine.

In the first accident which occurred in the vicinity of Central Village shortly before nine o'clock Thursday morning it is reported that Archibald walked from behind a parked vehicle and into the path of a car which was being driven by a policeman.

The injured man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

And just after ten o'clock in another incident a car with four persons, including a 15-year-old, was travelling towards the corporate area when just before reaching the Ferry Police Station, the driver reportedly lost control.

The car crashed into a utility pole and then landed on the westbound side of the highway.

All four were rushed to the Spanish Town Hospital where they have been admitted with serious head injuries.
