A suspect was fatally shot during a reported confrontation with the police in Westmoreland on the weekend.
He has been identified as 38-year-old David Joshua Thomas, also called 'Baraka' of Whitehall in Negril, Westmoreland.
It is reported that about 5 a.m. Sunday, members of the Area 1 Fugitive Apprehension Team went into Whitehall with an arrest warrant for Mr. Thomas.
It is further reported that he opened fire on the police team when they entered his house. The cops returned fire and he was fatally shot.
A semi-automatic pistol loaded with six rounds of ammunition was reportedly taken from him.
He was later pronounced dead at hospital.
