Chad Wright qualifies for CAC Weightlifting Championships

Olympian Chad Wright secured qualification for the 2026 CAC Games in weightlifting following outstanding performances at the recently- concluded CAC Weighlifting Championships in the Dominican Republic.

Wright who represented Jamaica in the discus throw at the Olympics and World Athletics Championships, placed 6th overall in  the heavyweight division.

He first produced a best ever opener of 140kgs in the snatch competitionbefore lifting a personal best of 172kgs in the clean and jerk section.

The 34 year old Wright amassed a lifetime best combined total of 312 kgs to qualify for the 2026 CAC Games to be held in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic from July 24 to August 8.
