It will cost at least $80 million to resurface the track at GC Foster College to get it in line with World Athletics certification standard. However, the project is yet to get underway as a result of the government's procurement process. The track has seen a lot of traffic over the past 12 years since it was last resurfaced.
Principal of GC Foster College, Maurice Wilson is hoping to get the project underway soon.
Wilson says despite having to foot the bill for the millions it will cost, the work would have started had it not been for the red tapes.
The next meet set for the track is the 46th staging of the Milo Western Relays on February 8, where the late Hubert Lawrence will be honoured.
