Jamaican Rovman Powell will rub shoulders with the world's best T20 players after being bought by the Kolkota Knight Riders for the upcoming Indian Premier League season.
Powell who was the Jamaica Scorpions top batsman in the just concluded regional Super50 tournament went for approximately US $45, 000.
Should Powell feature in the April 5 - May 21 competition, it would mark his first appearance in an overseas franchise tournament, despite being drafted for both the Bangladesh and Pakistan Twenty20 leagues.
“It’s another opportunity to showcase my talent. I’ve put in a lot of hard work behind the scenes and it’s a good feeling to see that everything has come to the party,” said Powell.
Powell will be joined at the Knight Riders by Trinidadian Darren Bravo with mystery spinner Sunil Narine returning to the squad.
Fellow Trinidadian Nicholas Pooran has been picked up by the Mumbai Indians and former West Indies captain Darren Sammy by the Kings XI Punjab.
