WADA files appeal with CAS against 'no fault' verdict in Erriyon Knighton doping case

The World Anti-Doping Agency, WADA has confirmed with Radio Jamaica Sports that it will be appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sports, CAS, against the decision of an arbitration tribunal in the United States that America's 2-time 200m world championship medallist Erriyon Knighton had "No Fault or Negligence" for a positive test in March this year.

"I can confirm that after reviewing this case, WADA has decided to take an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. I can make no further comment at this time." WADA said on Wednesday, responding to questions from Radio Jamaica Sports.

Knighton had been cleared after the United States Anti-Doping Agency, USADA, brought charges against him for the Presence of epitrenbolone and Use of trenbolone.

Two months ago when USADA announced that Knighton was cleared to compete in the US national Trials, its chief, Travis Tygart declared that "justice was served".

Confirmation of WADA's appeal came just 2 hours after the Athletics Integrity Unit, AIU confirmed via X, that it had "filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport in the case relating to Erriyon Knighton (USA)."
