Constable Noel Maitland, who is charged with the murder of his girlfriend, Donna-Lee Donaldson, was denied bail when he appeared in the Home Circuit Court on Thursday.
Justice Vinnette Graham Allen denied the application on the basis that the court is satisfied that there are substantial grounds for believing Constable Maitland would abscond and that he will intefere with witnesses.
He is to return to court on February 9 next year for a plea and case management hearing.
Justice Graham Allen had postponed her ruling last week following lengthy submissions from lead defence attorney Christopher Townsend and the prosecution.
The cop confessed that, before she went missing, he had an argument with Ms Donaldson over a photograph of the mother of his child that was on display at his apartment.
Constable Maitland was arrested on July 27 and later charged with the murder of 24-year-old Donaldson, who was last seen at his New Kingston apartment on July 11.
Mr. Maitland is also charged with preventing the lawful burial of a corpse.
