The Government has welcomed the Supreme Court's decision to lift the injunction previously blocking the enforcement of the law to make Portmore a parish.
The Opposition had challenged the Counties and Parishes Amendment Act, 2025, stating that it was unlawful.
The ruling follows the Government's agreement that it will not bring the law into operation until constitutional requirements for changing constituency boundaries are complied with.
Attorney-General Dr Derrick McKoy expressed satisfaction with the court's decision.
The Attorney-General says the way is now clear for the objectives of the legislation to be achieved.
