The nominees for this year's 23rd staging of the BET Awards have been announced.
The event is scheduled for June 25 at 8p.m. in Los Angeles.
Canadian rapper Drake has scored big with seven nominations and could make a major impact.
The God's Plan rapper's nominations include Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, Best Group with 21 Savage, Best Collaboration with Future and Tems, Album of the Year for Her Loss with 21 Savage, and Viewer's Choice Award for Jimmy Cook with 21 Savage and his feature on Wait For You with Future and Tems.
Rapper GloRilla, who was nominated for her first Grammy earlier this year, is entering the ceremony with six nominations. She took home the best breakthrough hip-hop artist of the year award last year.
21 Savage and Lizzo received the third-highest number of nominations with five each, followed by Beyoncé, Burna Boy, Chris Brown, Ice Spice, and SZA, who each received four nominations.
The awards show will also honour categories in film and sports.
Voting for the Viewer's Choice categories started on June 8 and will end on the day of the show.
Show officials and organizers say there are plans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop during the telecast.
Performers will be announced later.
