Consolidation in the credit union movement continues with the latest merger involving EduCom and Gateway to create Infiniti Co-operative Credit Union.
Last December, COK/Sodality and Community and Workers of Jamaica completed their merger, becoming Jamaica's largest credit union with membership of over 400,000.
Data from the Bank of Jamaica indicate that the country's credit unions held assets of $191.06 billion or 5.8% of gross domestic product (GDP) as at the end of September last year.
