The Grand Bahia Principe Hotel in Runaway Bay, St. Ann is conducting an investigation into Monday night's incident in which a taxi operator who stabbed his ex-girlfriend at the property, was shot dead by the hotel's security.

The taxi operator has been identified as 39-year-old Leo Henry of Belle Aire Meadows in Dumbarton, St. Ann.

Farrah Blake, Social Relations Manager at Bahia Principe, told RJR News that the investigation is to determine, among other things, whether Mr. Henry was an invited guest at the staff party.

"What usually obtains is that we verify the person's name and the name of their guest and they are scanned before they are admitted to the property. What we are going to have to do now is to go back to the drawing board to see what gaps exist in this current procedure and to see how best we can ensure that something like this never happens again," Ms Blake asserted.

Mr. Henry attacked his ex-girlfriend during the hotel's Christmas staff party.

A security guard intervened and fired one shot, which hit Mr. Henry in the chest. He died in hospital on Tuesday.

A 17-year-old boy who was wounded in the incident, remains in hospital in serious but stable condition.
