Canada’s sprint hurdle champion Perdita Felicien set to retire

Perdita Felicien, Canada's former two-time sprint hurdles World Champion, is set to retire from the sport.

The 33-year-old who made the announcement Thursday, won gold in the hurdles at the 2003 World Championships and 2004 Indoor Worlds. She also won a silver medal in 2007.

Felicien holds the Canadian record of 12.46 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles.

However, her Olympic career was marred by disappointment including tripping over the first hurdle in the final at the 2004 Athens Games and not being able to race at the 2008 Beijing Olympics because of a foot injury.  She failed to qualify for the 2012 games in London after a false start in the final at her National Trials.
