Former St James MP says "lawlessness" will return when State of Emergency is lifted

Former St James Member of Parliament and publisher, Lloyd B Smith is warning that the lawlessness which existed in St James last year could return once the State of Public Emergency is lifted.

Speaking at a function in Montego Bay on the weekend,  Smith urged the authorities to implemented the necessary crime fighting measures to protect the citizens of St James, when the State of Emergency is lifted.

Last year,  365 people were murdered in St James last year, prompting the government to declare the State of Emergency in January,

Smith  has also called for more scrutiny of the assets of politicians as he believes some are involved in criminal activities  - a practice that must be arrested.
