A 74-year-old man in Grenada committed suicide at the General Hospital in the capital St. Georges hours after being diagnosed with a terminal illness.
The Ministry of Health confirmed the man, who had been a patient at the institution since November 24, died in tragic circumstances.
It did not provide details on the incident.
However, the Caribbean Media Corporation was informed that the man had been ailing for some time and was hospitalised after not improving.
Following a series of medical tests, doctors diagnosed him with the terminal illness on Wednesday morning.
A few hours later, he jumped to his death from the fire escape.
