A 21-year old Portmore
man, who allegedly stood by as a group of men sexually assaulted two teenagers,
was granted $100,000 bail in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court in St.
Catherine on Tuesday.
Kymani Brown, a welder residing in Braeton, is charged with aiding and abetting rape and is to return to court on February 23.
In granting bail, Acting Senior Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar- Green told Mr. Brown his temporary freedom is conditional.
She ordered him not to return to Braeton where the alleged rape took place but should instead go live with his mother in Kingston.
Mrs. Dunbar-Green also ordered him to report to the Duhaney Park Police Station twice per week.
The court was told that on January 29, the girls were at a playing field in Braeton when they were attacked by a group of men.
The commotion caught the attention of several little boys who were in the park who went to investigate.
However, Mr. Brown, who was also at the playing field at the time, reportedly chased them away and stood and did nothing as they girls were being raped.
The girls were reporting the incident at the Greater Portmore Police Station when Mr. Brown, who is on a murder charge turned up as part of the conditions of his bail.
The girls pointed him out to the police as the man who stood by as they were raped.
The actual rapists have not been held.
