Man shot dead by Beryllium security guard in St. Thomas

A man was shot and killed by a member of a Beryllium security team in the vicinity of a Scotiabank automated teller machine (ATM) in Morant Bay, St. Thomas on Wednesday afternoon.
 
He is 36-year-old Kamek Bloomfield, otherwise called 'Chu Chu'.
 
The police say about 2:30 p.m., a security team employed to Beryllium was servicing an ATM along West Street in Morant Bay, when a member of the team was approached by Mr. Bloomfield who was armed with what appeared to be a handgun.
 
The guard opened fire hitting Mr. Bloomfield in the upper body.
 
The police were alerted and Mr. Bloomfield was transported to Princess Margaret Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
 
It was later discovered that Mr. Bloomfield had been armed with an imitation firearm.
