Donovon Mitchell, the Mayor of Mandeville, has joined his family in calling for locals in Trinidad and Tobago to come forward with any information relating to his niece who went missing in the twin island republic over the weekend.

Mr. Mitchell's niece, Kimalee Larmont John, left home in Chase Village on Saturday to embark on a five-minute walk to be picked up by a company vehicle that would take her to work. Despite contacting the driver to indicate she was on her way, she never showed up.

Aside from her husband, the Jamaican woman, who works as a security guard, has no other relatives in Trinidad and Tobago.

Mr. Mitchell told Radio Jamaica News that the Jamaican High Commission and other authorities in Trinidad are in touch with his family, while the police and anti-kidnapping unit in that country carry out investigations.

He said he will be leaving for Trinidad soon.

"We are hoping for the best but if the worst should come, we are also bracing. I have made an appeal to the authorities and the persons in Trinidad [that] if they know of anything, just speak to the authorities," he pleaded.
