A notice has been served on China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC) for a dust nuisance emanating from rehabilitation work on the Southern Coastal Highway Improvement Project in sections of St. Thomas.
This follows numerous complaints by motorists and residents.
It was revealed at Tuesday's meeting of the Infrastructure Committee at the St. Thomas Municipal Corporation, that the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) served the notice on CHEC.
CHEC was advised to dampen the areas, four times daily, to reduce the dust.
In addition, a cease and desist order has been placed on the company for illegal dumping in the Port Morant mangroves and a section of the Yallahs Pond.
The company has been observed disposing waste material at the locations.
The order is with immediate effect.
