Rev. Al Miller begins defence of charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice

After several failed attempts to have charges against him dismissed, Reverend Al Miller, head of the church known as Fellowship Tabernacle, began giving testimony on Wednesday at his trial in the Corporate Area Criminal Court.

Miller began his defence after the presiding magistrate dismissed no-case submissions by his attorneys in June. He is accused of  attempting to pervert the course of  justice, after fugitive Christopher "Dudus" Coke was found in his vehicle during the search for him in 2010.

Miller's attorneys had pushed for the charges to be dismissed, claiming there was a deal between him and the Police High Command to bring in Coke, who was facing extradition to the US.

Miller insisted that he was transporting the fugitive to the US Embassy, with the full knowledge of  the High Command, when his vehicle was intercepted, Coke was arrested, and he was also taken into custody.
