The RJRGLEANER Communications Group has denounced as false and misleading an AI assisted content which calls into question the journalistic integrity of the Gleaner and specific journalists.
Chief Executive Officer of the Group Anthony Smith has denounced the video as one created by unidentified individuals to smear the character of the journalists.
The video, circulating on social media, claims that the Gleaner Company consistently places the Jamaica Labour Party government in a bad light and favours the opposition People's National Party.
Mr Smith said The Gleaner holds in high regard, the time-honoured tenets of journalism, and therefore pursues truth and seeks balance without fear, favour or agenda.
He affirmed that The Gleaner stands behind its team of journalists and declared that the claims were not only disparaging of both The Gleaner and its team of reporters, but that they also put members of the team at risk of being targeted in various ways.
He declared that The Gleaner will act to protect its team which remains cautious but undeterred.
